  • Welcome to the special education services department of the Haddon Township School District. It is our hope that this section provides you with the information you are seeking in regard to special education and student services within the Haddon Township Public Schools. If at any time you are unable to find the information you are seeking, please contact the Office of Special Services at (856) 869-7750 ext 7313.
     
    The Special Services Department supports Haddon Township School District's Philosophy of Education. We believe in providing a variety of special education programs to address the individual needs of students with disabilities.  The special services department makes every effort to support students in the general education program when deemed appropriate based on their specific educational needs.

  • Special Education/504 Plan procedure Presentation for Parents

    November 30, 2021 at 6:30 via Zoom. 

    Please RSVP to dcotter@htsd.us for the link to attend as space may be limited. 

    This will be a presentation of Special Education and 504 plan procedures designed for parents. A SEPAG (Special Education Parent Advisory Group) meeting will immediately follow the presentation.

  • The Camden County Division of Programming for Individuals with disABILITIES and Special Needs offers a wide range of activities and programs throughout the year. Most programs are free to attend, but registration is required. Activities include:

Dana Cotter, LDT/C, M.Ed.

Dana Cotter is the Supervisor of Special Services for the Haddon Township School District.  She has been working in Special Education for over 25 years, initially working at the Douglass Developmental Disabilities Center (DDDC) of Rutgers University.  At the DDDC, Ms. Cotter was a classroom teacher for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Coordinator of Home Programming.  Ms. Cotter also served as a behavior and educational consultant through Douglass Outreach at Rutgers University.  She has presented locally and nationally on special education topics including Paraprofessional Training, Classroom Management, Collaboration with Parents, Social Skill Instruction, Applied Behavior Analysis, Reinforcement, Asperger Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Functional Behavior Assessment, Functional Communication Training, Teaching Safety skills, Inclusion, and Positive Behavior Supports.  Ms. Cotter received the Excellence in Teaching Award – “Teacher of the Year,”  from the Center for Outreach Services of the Autism Community (COSAC).

Ms. Cotter has been with the Haddon Township School District since 2007, starting as a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant (LDT/C) and case manager.  She has been the Supervisor of Special Services in Haddon Township since 2015.
